I stumbled upon this designer whilst flicking through the ELLE website for news updates. Longshaw's work is whimsical and fun with a sporty twist to it that i have fallen in love with. If i could afford to buy one of his garments i would jump at the chance. His spring summer collection 2011 gives off an aura of a fun loving, sporty young women that has a whimsical, fairy tale sophistication. The colour pallet of pastel blues, purples and pinks are soft and easy on the eye, along with the intricate detailing, patterns, accessories and frills that draw you eye in for close examination, You know you wont be let down by his work.
David Longshaw, St Martins (BA hons), RCA (MA). After graduating in 2007 David received a flurry of press and nominations for International Awards. He secured a position at Alberta Ferretti even before his final graduate collection was shown. Although keen to launch his own label he felt it important to gain some international commercial experience and went on to work for Max Mara. In tandem he has pursued his natural talent for illustration which is where many of his designs find their beginnings.David won the BFC Elle Talent Launch Pad which has even further raised his profile and saw Helena Christensen wearing one of his creations in ELLE.
Another whimsical story is the inspiration behind David's SS11 collection:
It's summer and a group of hoodies, bored and with nothing in particular to do, have broken into a stately home. With good intentions of petty vandalism and theft, they are distracted by the period costumes on display. They start to dress up and the fun begins.... (his own words)
